Church School Beldih was established in the year 1954. As a Christian school; it has for its inspiration and guidance, the life and teachings of Jesus Christ.
The main aim of this educational institution is to prepare citizens for others-the motto being “Duty first , self last ”, to impart to students the knowledge to transform India into a socially just society. A feeling of concern must be inculcated in the young hearts since concern is the principal inspiring factor which helps in creating a society that sustains the weak, the underprivileged, the marginalized and the voiceless.
With this aim in mind, the Beldih Baptist Church was established by missionaries in the year 1923 and managed thereafter by the executive committee of the church.
Commencing with a small strength of fourteen students, under Principal Rev . Romanzelo (1954-1957), the school went on to capacity of 65 in the
year 1960 under Rev. Moss. With Mrs. A. Thomas (1960-1970) at the helm of the school, the strength rose to 500 students. Mrs. Shanti John
steered the institution (1970-1974) on the path of progress and handed over the reins to Mrs. V. David , under whose able guidance the school
grew to its present prestigious position. I.C.S.E. affiliation was obtained in the year 1986 and in the year1989 the first I.C.S.E batch passed out with cent percent results.
The I.S.C affiliation came in 1993, the first batch of which too passed with flying colors. After serving the school for twenty five long years with dedication and zeal, Mrs. V. David stepped down and Mr.Flavin Topno became the Principal. Dr. R. K. Behra succeeded Mr. Topno. Mrs. Geeta. Paul, the present principal is enthusiastically tackling the challenge of taking the school to even further heights for her the sky is the limit.
The school building was expanded with the office building being constructed in the year 1978-79. Presently, the school boasts of facilities like a well –endowed library, laboratories, computer, etc.
The advancement of the school also led to numerous academic achievements .The students cleared the IIT and AIIMS.
Examination- Divya Shakti was ranked 11th in the AIIMS entrance examination while Jayesh Mehta, Aniruddha Ghosh, Anshul Sharan, Debabrata Pani, Ambarish Mohanty, Amit Kumar, Soumitro Chatterjee, to name just a few, got seats in IIT.
Not in the educational performance of the school illustrations but even in the sports arena, the results have been brilliant –Surojit Das has participated in the state and junior national level competitions.
For their all-around development students have been provided with the options of enrolling themselves in as many as 16 clubs- Interact, Jyoti, art & craft, quiz, nature, dramatics and many more. There is also the church schoolweb page, a year book which showcases the interaction between the faculty and the student so necessary for the able running and organization of an educational institution.
Much has been achieved but there are many more arenas to conquer. For a fledgling and growing institution, any progress is just a forerunner
of many more accolades to come in the future and for this support and cooperation is an essential pre-requisite- support not only of the
teachers but also of the Management, the students and their parents.
The foundation has been laid and the heights up to which this building rises physically and socially depends upon the people who reside in it.
It is only through their tireless efforts punctuated with profitable results that this institution can be catapulted to greater heights.
In the first couple of decades of the 19th century, the Americans, British and Europeans comprising executives, engineers, administrators, designers, planners and technocrats along with their families started arriving in Jamshedpur. Lured by the prospects of Jamshedpur hundreds and thousands from all corners of India migrated to Jamshedpur. A large section of incoming Christians belonged to the Baptist faith speaking different languages – Bengali, Marathi, Oriya, Punjabi and Telugu etc. They adopted Hindi as the mode of communication.
The land for the Church building and personage was acquired from TISCO .A small Kindergarten was started by ‘The Roadys’ in the parsonage to look after the education of the little children of the American families. Sir Jehangir Ghandy, Resident Director of TISCO requested ‘The Roadys’ to add one or two classes every year for the children of TISCO officials. The year 2004 is a milestone in the history of Church School as it celebrates fifty Golden Years of service to the steel City of Jamshedpur in the field of education.
